We woke up to rain and fog this morning which made it really hard to get out of bed. I think we left the hotel by 10:30. After a panncake breakfast on the corner we headed south to Brooklyn.
Arriving in the central parts of the borough we went strait to the visitor's center since we had no idea what to do in Brooklyn (I've just heard that it is the hip place of New York these days). We quickly got a map and a route to take through "downtown" Brooklyn.
Bjorne and I are very surprised that we haven't found a single real grocery store on Manhattan so far. There is something called Duanereade, that have some kind of basic grocery selection in some of their stores, but we haven't found anything like Swedish ICA or Coop. Apparently everyone has to go to Brooklyn to pick up groceries, because there we could find several within a pretty small area! I finally found some more raisins to buy (I had to through my last raisins away entering the Capitolium in D.C.).
Even though the weather wasn't what we wanted...we had a nice stroll through the old part of Brooklyn. We saw many really nice and cute town houses.
Since we had already walked across Brooklyn Bridge we walked through Dumbo (where we found a very small beach of rocks) and walked over Manhattan Bridge instead. What a noisy bridge! But we got a nice view of Brooklyn Bridge at least!
