Hi Roosevelt Island |
The sun was out again! Which meant breakfast outside! This time we walked up to 2nd Ave. and 59th St. and took the tram over to Roosevelt Island. After visiting the cute visitor's centre right beside the tram station we walked down to the island's southern tip to be able to look at the UN-building while eating. A pretty cool spot, but guess what! The UN-building is also being renovated so there is enoying stuff in the way here too.
After breakfast we strolled around the whole island (about 4 km) and tried to get as much sun as possible since it was quite cold without the sun. It was fun to see another part (northern and eastern part) of Manhattan from a distance!
To sum up our trip over to Roosevelt Island we ended our sightseeing there with coffee at Starbucks (well Bjorne had chai tea).
The only reason I wanted to visit Roosevelt Island to start with was because Matt Boomer did a really cool scene going on the tram in one episode of the TV-show White Collar. He wasn't there now unfortunately...but hey, I've been in the same tram as him :)
Björne waiting for a cool tram ride! |
A police officer directing traffic again...a dangerous job! |
I wouldn't want to be in that cue on Queensboro Bridge |

Looks pretty nice, eh?! |
Nice spot always needs a nice jump! |
I really would like to be able to jump like Björne! What a jump! |
Another bicycle stand that I could play with |

The lighthouse! |

We just love to jump! |
I keep on running into Canada everyday (the sailing boat has a Canadian flag) |
I really liked the old brick building squeezed in between two skyscrapers |
Perfect Christmas tree! |
We found this art exhibition on the western side of the island (see following three pictures below) |
Just thought this was a pretty fun office...I wonder what they do there... |
Not the shape of a roundabout that I'm used to |
Finally a Starbucks! |
