Our first stop was Moraine Lake, known as the Valley of the Ten Peaks. We didn't get much time there but I got to play a little bit in the moraine and do a light portion of climbing.

Trying to jump! I fellow passenger with a quicker camera is going to e-mail me a picture with an actual jump.
Quatchi enjoying the lake.
Next we came to Lake Louise, the lake! Since the people on the meal plan had lunch there I had plenty of time to explore (not enough tough). I quite quickly discovered that it was possible to rent canoes and paddle out on the lake! With the boating experience in Central Park in fresh memory I couldn't resist renting a canoe for a hour.
Lake Louise before the wind picked up.
Canoeing.

Flowers in front of Lake Louise.
I and another tourist I met by the lake helped each other taking jump pictures with our iPads :)
The fancy hotel on the lake: Fairmont Chateau.
I've only canoed twice in my life and never alone. It was really hard work. Especially since the wind picked up from time to time that pretty much just made me spin around not getting anywhere. So Bjorne, I'm sorry but I had to be like one of those people from Central Park that were doing it all wrong. To get anywhere at all I had to paddle with the back of the canoe first! I still believe I looked way cooler though :) I'm really glad I went though instead of doing the crowded walk along one side of the lake.
On our way north we got a short glimpse of a grizzly bear on the side of the road. Maybe you can tell from the picture (or maybe not :)).
I guess you can see something but hard to tell what it is from a picture...it was a grizzly I'm sure of it.
My favorite stop of the day and also the shortest was Peyto Lake. I thought it beat both Moraine Lake and Lake Louise when it comes to scenery! Amazingly beautiful!!

Peyto Lake towards the glacier feeding the lake.
Athabasca Glacier was our next stop. We were driven up onto the glacier in a special vehicle and got to spend maybe 20 minutes playing on top of it. My first (this is the second) experience of actually being on top of a glacier, from hiking onto Fox Glacier (I think it was Fox not Franz Joseph) on New Zealand beat this experience with "hästlängder (I'm sorry if I just hurt any Canadian feelings). My fellow Chinese passengers really enjoyed it though!
Athabasca Glacier.
Lots and lots of tourists...and the funny looking vehicles of course.
Quatchi and Globe feeling the snow.
Jump!
Today's second encounter with a bear, this time a black bear, took place not far from the Athabasca Glacier. This one was closer to the road and I think you actually may see in this picture that it was a bear. :)
Black bear right beside the road.
Now it's time to say good night. Tomorrow won't be as adventurous as today but you never know what's waiting around the corner.
