Richmond (=China)

A woman at the airport that used to live in Richmond (before moving up west of Williams Lake where she is running a English language school) told me that Richmond had really changed in the last 10 years and that it's mostly Chinese living there now.

No wonder it felt like coming to China when I left the hotel to pick up lunch. Pretty much all the signs on businesses and restaurants were in Chinese.


I don't know if it is possible to see the Chinese signs in this picture...

The guide told us later that out of 180 000 living in Richmond, 100 000 originates from China. So if the Chinatown downtown Vancouver feels small there is a much bigger one down in Richmond.
