A very short day!

I think Megan and I managed to leave her apartment around 2 PM. We biked downtown to run som errands (visiting my favorite store, Mountain Equipment Co-op, for example). We had to be back at the apartment by 5 PM when a few of her friends were picking us up to go to Butchart Gardens for a pick-nick and a firework show so we only had a quick stop downtown before heading back on the Galloping Goose.

The wife of the Butchart family began creating the gardens more than 100 years ago and they are still blooming. There is a Japanese Garden, an Italian Garden, a Rose Garden and the Sunken Garden.

I liked that they had a map- and information pamphlet in Swedish! It's not very common to find information in Swedish at tourist attractions abroad but I guess a lot of Swedes come to Butchart Gardens.

We had a really yummy pick-nick on the grass listening to some live music before walking around all the gardens.

The Butchart Gardens goes all the way down to the ocean where Megan and I went paddle boarding yesterday.


The Gardens had a carousel that we had to try of course.

Then at 10 PM the firework show began and it was nothing as I expected. The show was divided up and matched different kinds of music tunes. So most of the fireworks were down close to the ground and not shot high up into the sky as I'm used to.

After another walk through the Sunken Garden and Rose Garden in the dark with lots of lights making the view of the gardens pretty spectacular we headed home. And that was all the adventures we had time to fit in to the Saturday!
