The weather arriving in SF was cloudy which didn't give me the first best perception of the city from the train window. And my first opinion of the city wouldn't change until later that afternoon.
I met Bjorne at the hostel in downtown SF. We shared a spacious room with our own bathroom (I thought we would share the bathroom with others as we did in New York).
We headed out after having some free bagel breakfast at the hostel. Our plan was to do the western part of SF including Golden Gate Bridge. After purchasing 3-day passes for the busses and trams we took a bus to the Golden Gate Park. Our expectations of the park were high since we already before entering it compared it to Central Park. It turned out to be nothing like Central Park. I didn't enjoy the park at all! It was actually pretty ugly. The only thing that made it worth it was the row boat hour we had on some lake. But that too was nothing like the row boat adventure Bjorne and I had in Central Park.
Bjorne began rowing as last time.
Quatchi trying to hold on.
Turtles here too as in the lake in Central Park...
One of this trips first group self portrait of Bjorne and I.
SF's first jumping picture. The Golden Gate Bridge is in the background (not really visible in the photo though)
After a yummy Fish & Chips lunch with sweet potato fries we walked along the rest of the park on the outside of it to finally after another at least 30 minute walk reach the ocean. It was then our opinion began to change about the city. We just loved the sand on the beach. So warm and soft! We walked along the beach towards Golden Gate Bridge.
Bjorne enjoying a Nojito (a Mojito without alcohol).
No way we could wear shoes on this beach.
Yeah, the Pacific Ocean.
My try to do a Megan jump like the one on Mt. Maxwell...Megan's was way better.
Bjorne trying to find out if Pamela Anderson still works as a life guard.
More jumping! That's the fun you can have on a cloudy day.

Caroline doing the same.
Today's best picture of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Walking around some wealthy areas of SF.
Around 6 PM we understood that we wouldn't make it to the the bridge that day. But we were quite happy with the ending of our long walk anyway. We got to see the Pacific Ocean!
We took a bus back into downtown and decided to try to take a tram to Fisherman's Wharf for the second time that day (when we tried earlier the cue was 1 1/2 hour long at Powell Station). The wait at this hour in the evening was only about 15 minutes which was acceptable. I didn't expect it to be so much fun going on a tram. It felt like going on a roller-coaster :) We got off at the famous curvy Lombard street and had great fun there watching the never stopping traffic going down the street. I wonder what it is like to live along that part of the street with all that traffic.
Our first tram ride.
Can you tell it was fun?
The curves on Lombard Street.
The curves again but this time with a city view.
By late dinner time we reached Fisherman's Wharf and had Clam-chowder in a sourdough bowl for dinner. So good, but a bit to much bread.
Bjorne eating Clam-chowder by the water in Fisherman's Wharf.
Dinner made us, especially Bjorne (who still was jet-lagged) tired so we headed back to the hostel quite quickly after supper. Bjorne fell a sleep more or less directly after returning to our room. I was not that much behind.
